'Delta robot': Indonesian village turns unwanted trash into COVID helper

Designed by villagers from a small part in Indonesia, a homemade robot delivers food to residents who are suffering from coronavirus and need to self-isolate.

Made with household items like pots and pans and a TV monitor, the robot has been dubbed the 'Delta robot'.

The Delta robot sprays disinfectants, delivers food and essentially helps those who are isolating. The head of the robot has been made from a rice cooker and it has a 12-hour battery life.

As the robot makes its way down the street, the speaker emits "assalamu’alaikum" and then "A delivery is here. Get well soon." The village is within the East java province, which is Indonesia's second-biggest city.

The country has been the epicentre of the coronavirus outbreak with nearly 3.7 million cases and more than 100,000 deaths.
