Dangerous nor’easter batters US East Coast; states of emergency continue in New York, New Jersey

Remnants of a powerful nor’easter continued to affect parts of the US East Coast early Monday after bringing heavy rain, strong winds and dangerous waves to several states over the weekend. In coastal areas of New York and New Jersey, severe flooding left residents paddling through their neighborhoods in kayaks and canoes, while parked cars were partially or almost completely submerged.
