‘Congress doesn't direct foreign policy’: Rubio rebuffs questions about Dems making his job harder
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio dismissed concerns that a potential Democratic-controlled Congress in January would complicate his job, stating that foreign policy is primarily directed by the executive branch. Rubio said Congress has a role in funding, appropriations and oversight, but “it won’t influence or change the President’s directives in terms of what he was elected to do. The president was elected to execute the foreign policy of the United States. That is a function of the executive branch.”
