'Clap a little more & I'll share it with Trump': Navi Pillay mocks POTUS after Nobel Peace Prize win
The Norwegian Nobel Committee announced the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize winner. It honored Navanethem “Navi” Pillay for her efforts to promote peace and international law. Pillay, a former ICC judge in a recent interaction mocked U.S. President Donald Trump. In a hilarious statement, Pillay said that 'If you keep applauding, I may share the award with Trump'. Her recent jibe came amid tensions between Trump and the ICC. The Trump Administration has called the ICC an 'out-of-control court' ', seeking to impose bans on the institution. Pillay's joke on Trump sharing reflects on President Trump's desire of getting Nobel Peace Prize. It referred to the moment when Machado, during her visit to White House, presented her Nobel Peace Prize medal to Trump. Maria Machado called it a gesture of gratitude to Trump and his commitment to Venezuela’s freedom. Former UN human rights chief Navanethem "Navi" Pillay, a former judge on the ICC, has won this year's Nobel Peace Prize. The 85-year-old South African jurist was recognised for her efforts to promote peace and international law. Pillay was president of the international tribunal on Rwanda's genocide between the late 1990s and early 2000s. She chaired a UN commission that concluded Israel had committed genocide in Gaza.
