China's Commerce Minister Wang Wentao on Thursday touted the country as an "ideal and safe" investment destination and urged nations to resist unilateral bullying.

Wang, delivering a speech on behalf of Chinese President Xi Jinping at an Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit event in South Korea, said the world was standing at a new crossroads, between choosing unity or returning to hegemony.

"We must strengthen unity and collaboration, oppose protectionism, resist unilateral bullying, and avoid the world from reverting to the law of the jungle," Wang said.
