China's President Xi Jinping stressed the need for the country to develop the real economy and traditional industries during an inspection tour in northern China's Shanxi province, the official Xinhua news agency reported on Tuesday.

"The real economy should not be abandoned, nor should the traditional industries within it," Xi was quoted by Xinhua as saying, while stressing "industrial transformation and upgrading through technological innovation."
