China’s 'Tiangong' beats its own 400m record, outpacing South African robot at ‘Robot Olympics’

China’s humanoid robot Tiangong broke its own 400-metre record at the World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing, clocking 38.15 seconds. The robot had previously completed the race in 39.7 seconds, surpassing South African sprinter Wayde van Niekerk’s human 400m world record of 43.03 seconds.The record highlights China’s growing push to develop humanoid robots as a strategic emerging industry, with applications expected across manufacturing, logistics and consumer technology.
