China launches campaign against online piracy
BEIJING: The Chinese government has launched a half-year campaign against rampant online piracy, targeting websites which offer unauthorised content from traditional media.

The campaign, which runs from June to November, was jointly launched by four departments including the National Copyright Administration, the State Internet Information Office, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the Ministry of Public Security.

"The move aims to promote cooperation between online and traditional media institutions and better protect copyright by standardizing the use of copyright owners' content online," state-run Xinhua news agency quoted a statement as saying.

This is the 10th annual campaign of its kind since 2005.
