China deployed one lakh troops for public security
The 2.3 million-strong Chinese military has dispatched one lakh troops to provide security for large-scale public events in recent years in the country.

The duties of Chinese military in fighting terrorism include investigation, protection, disposition and rescue, in accordance with the National Defence Law and the Emergency Response Law, Defence Ministry spokesman Geng Yansheng said.
China's military - the world's largest standing army - has organised professional training on anti-terrorism and provided security for large-scale events, including the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008 and the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, he said.
He noted that the Chinese military is determined to work with government departments to fight any kind of terrorist activity, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
