‘China could face high tariffs if…’: Bessent’s chilling warning to Beijing over Russian oil purchase
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Trade Representative Jamieson Greer held a press conference in Stockholm following two days of trade talks with China. Although no breakthrough had been achieved, both sides agreed to work toward extending their 90-day tariff truce. During the briefing, Bessent warned that China could be subject to high US tariffs if it continued purchasing sanctioned Russian oil.
