China allows couples to have three children, major policy shift

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) on May 31 made an announcement to end the two-child policy and allow the married couples to have three children to boost the country’s declining birthrate and ageing population. The CCP permitted a dramatic shift in the world’s most restrictive family planning policies, though it wasn’t clear when the change will come into effect.
