Catastrophic flooding sweeps across Texas; Governor Abbott signs major disaster declaration
Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed paperwork on Friday (July 17), declaring the latest bout of flooding in the western part of Texas a major disaster. Governor Abbott said the declaration, which will be sent to President Donald Trump for approval, would open the door for federal aid to the region as they move from rescue and recovery efforts to clean-up in the coming days. Abbott and other officials warned that flood dangers still exist even after the rain has stopped and urged people in Texas to remain cautious.
