‘Called a monster’: Lawyers ask judge to silence Trump officials in Abrego Garcia trial

Lawyers for Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran national facing human smuggling charges, have asked a federal judge in Tennessee to stop Trump officials from making remarks that could bias the jury. They cite statements from DHS Secretary Kristi Noem and border czar Tom Homan labelling him a gang member, trafficker, and predator. His team argues this prejudices the trial. Abrego was mistakenly deported earlier this year but later returned, indicted, and re-detained while awaiting trial.
