King Charles, who ascended to the throne in September 2022 following the passing of his mother, Queen Elizabeth, remains optimistic about his treatment and is eager to resume his full public duties as soon as possible, the palace said.
Last month, Charles, 75, spent three nights in the hospital to undergo a corrective procedure for an enlarged prostate. During his stay, a separate medical issue was identified, although no specific details about the type of cancer were provided by the palace.
However, a royal source has confirmed to Reuters that it is not prostate cancer.
"His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties," the palace said. "Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual.
Further, in the statement the palace said, "The King is grateful to his medical team for their swift intervention, which was made possible thanks to his recent hospital procedure. He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible.
"His Majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation and in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer."
UK's Prime Minister took to X to wish the King a speedy recovery.
