Bomb attack kills 2 policemen in Egypt
CAIRO: At least two policemen, including an officer, were killed and nine other security personnel injured today in a bomb attack in Egypt's restive North Sinai.

The attack took place in the south of Al-Arish city when a police armored vehicle was targeted, a security official said.

All the injured were shifted to a military hospital for treatment, the official said, adding that the security forces have launched a hunt to nab the attackers.

Police and army personnel are frequently killed in North Sinai. The area has witnessed many violent attacks by militants since the January 2011 revolution that toppled former president Hosni Mubarak.

The attacks targeting police and military increased after the ouster of Islamist ex-president Mohamed Morsi in 2013 by military following massive protests against his rule.

Over 600 security personnel have been killed so far.
