Bodies of 4 Jewish victims of Paris attack arrive in Israel

The flight carrying the bodies of the four Jewish victims, Yoav Hattab, 21, Yohan Cohen, 20, Philippe Braham, 40 and Francois-Michel Saada, 64, arrived in Israel early morning from France and the coffins were then driven to the cemetery's large parking lot where the ceremony is scheduled to take place at around noon.

Israel's President Reuven Rivlin, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Leader of Opposition Isaac Herzog will take part in the ceremony, as will other ministers, members of the Knesset (parliamentarians), religious heads, and the French Minister of Ecology, Sustainable Development, and Energy, Segolene Royal.

Expecting thousands of mourners to attend the funerals, Israel police has prepared to block certain roadways leading to the cemetery ahead of the ceremony deploying extra units.

"Additional police units will be at the entrance of Jerusalem, the cemetery and in and around nearby neighbourhoods from the early hours of the morning, and remain in place throughout the day to make sure the thousands of people expected in the area will arrive safely," Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said.

Noting that mourners are expected from throughout the country, Rosenfeld added that police are leaving "nothing to chance".

The four were among 17 people gunned down in Paris during three days of bloodshed that sent shock waves through France's Jewish community, the third largest in the world.
