BNP chief appeals for high voter turnout to thwart alleged conspiracies

Dhaka: Bangladesh's leading prime ministerial hopeful Tarique Rahman urged all to vote on Thursday to combat the "conspiracies" he said were attempting to derail the first elections since a 2024 uprising.

"I firmly believe that if people in Bangladesh come out to cast their votes, conspiracies will not succeed," Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) chief Rahman told reporters after voting in Dhaka, without giving further details on the alleged plots.

"My best wishes to everyone for ushering in a new democracy."
