Balochistan: A grieving mother in Balochistan has accused a senior local police officer and two alleged associates of killing her son and his friend in a shooting last month, raising serious questions about police accountability and the alleged misuse of authority. She has demanded criminal proceedings against the accused, warning that she will set herself on fire if justice is denied, as reported by Dawn.

According to Dawn, speaking to reporters at the Quetta Press Club, Bibi Sharaf, a resident of Sariab, alleged that the Station House Officer (SHO) of New Sariab Police Station, along with two associates, opened fire on her son, Noorullah, and his companions on September 25.

The victims were reportedly returning from a picnic in Bolan when the incident occurred. Sharaf said the shooting claimed the lives of Noorullah, who worked at a garage, and his friend Shafi Muhammad.

Their companion, Zaheer Ahmed, sustained injuries in the alleged attack. She further accused the police of attempting to conceal the circumstances surrounding the deaths by registering what she described as a fabricated criminal case following the shooting. The allegations have intensified concerns over the conduct of law enforcement personnel and the difficulties faced by families seeking accountability for alleged abuses in Balochistan.

Sharaf said she had repeatedly approached the local police station through formal complaints, requesting the registration of a criminal case against the SHO and his alleged accomplices. However, she stated that the authorities had failed to respond to her applications or initiate any legal proceedings, as highlighted by Dawn.

Sharaf issued a stark warning during the press conference, saying she would set herself on fire outside the press club if the authorities failed to deliver justice. She also held the relevant officials responsible for any consequences arising from the alleged denial of justice, as reported by Dawn.
