While “Amazon promises customers ‘free, no hassle returns,’ it routinely… fails to issue refunds or re-charges customers who have returned items in compliance with Amazon’s refund and exchange policies because of defects in Amazon’s return and refund processes, often incorrectly claiming that the return had not been received by Amazon,” the lawsuit claimed.
How will the Amazon settle the dues?
Though Jeff Bezos' Amazon says it is not involved in wrongdoing, it has agreed to the settlement to avoid further court action. The settlement divides into two classes: Subclass A and Subclass B, with each claimant expected to receive an email telling them which group they belong to.Subclass A, which accounts for approximately 92.7% of claimants, will receive payments automatically, without having to file a claim. Subclass B claimants, however, have until December 1 to submit a claim and seek compensation. The average payout for Subclass B members has not yet been disclosed.
To file a claim, customers must provide details of the relevant order, including the order number, product description and date of the refund request. They must also specify the amount they sought as a refund, the possible reason for its rejection and the Notice ID included in the email they received.

Claimants may also be asked to submit additional supporting documents. The final settlement approval hearing in the Amazon case is scheduled for March 16, 2027.
Subclass B members have more to prove on a tighter schedule. If you fall into this subclass, you’ll need to file a claim on the settlement website before December 1. You’ll also have to prove you’re owed a refund. That leaves you with less than a month to file a claim before you lose your chance.
