Trade, countering extremists, projects focus of dialogue
New Delhi: Amid deterioration of its ties with Pakistan, the Taliban regime in Afghanistan has stepped up engagement with neighbouring Tajikistan to counter extremists in the region, initiate joint projects and boost trade.

A high-level delegation from Tajikistan is touring Kabul, the first official visit by senior Tajik officials to Afghanistan since the Taliban returned to power in August 2021.

The delegation includes representatives from Tajikistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and security agencies, including functionaries from the intelligence community, ET has learnt. Discussions are expected to focus on joint projects and counterterrorism.
