‘A billion deaths…’: Bill Gates drops AI bombshell, warns of catastrophic risks
Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has warned about the potentially catastrophic risks of artificial intelligence, saying AI could become powerful enough to drive events causing a billion deaths if left unchecked. Speaking on NBC’s 'Meet the Press,' Gates argued that safeguards, monitoring and government regulation are needed as AI capabilities rapidly advance. He also warned about the risks of powerful AI tools being used by people with malicious intent.
