BEIJING: A strong 6.3-magnitude earthquake jolted China's southwest Sichuan Province early this morning, though there were no reports of any casualty or damage to property.

The China Earthquake Networks Center said the earthquake hit at a depth of 18 kilometres in Kangding County of Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, state-run Xinhua News Agency reported.

No casualty or damage to property have been reported so far.

"The house window was shaking fiercely. Some people rushed out of the building," a woman said.

Guo, a Kangding resident, said the tremor was powerful and many articles fell to the floor in his home, but he said he did not see any houses collapse.

A doctor at a local hospital said they have not received any injured patients so far.
