PESHAWAR: At least 16 people were killed and 23 others injured when a suicide bomber blew himself up inside a packed mosque during Friday prayers in Mohmand Agency in restive northwest Pakistan.

"It was a suicide blast," a local official said.

The attacker blew himself up inside the mosque packed with worshippers.

At least 16 people were killed, the Express Tribune reported, citing officials.

Rescue teams and police rushed to the spot. The bodies and the injured are being shifted to local hospitals for medical treatment.
