15-year-old stabbed 50 times and burned alive amid Marseille’s escalating drug war
In a shocking incident of drug-related violence, a 15-year-old boy was stabbed 50 times and burned alive in Marseille, France. This tragic event highlights the alarming trend of youth involvement in gang wars and the escalating drug-related crime ...

Marseille is France's second-largest city and is known for its economic struggles, which have fostered an environment where drug trafficking thrives. Over the years, the city has experienced a violent turf war for control of the highly profitable drug market, primarily between various gangs, including the DZ Mafia. Prosecutor Bessone stated that both the victims and perpetrators of such violence are getting increasingly younger, a trend that is particularly alarming.
According to the prosecutor, the teenager was hired by a 23-year-old prisoner to intimidate a rival by setting fire to his door, for which he was promised 2,000 euros. However, the young boy was spotted by members of a rival gang who attacked him, stabbing him multiple times before setting him on fire.
In a subsequent development, the same prisoner allegedly recruited a 14-year-old minor to carry out a revenge attack against a member of the Blacks gang, offering him 50,000 euros for the job. The minor then hired a 36-year-old driver, but their relationship soured, resulting in the driver's death.
These incidents have contributed to a rise in drug-related killings in Marseille, which have reached 17 since the beginning of the year. In comparison, the total number of drug-related homicides in the city stood at 49 in 2023. The increasing involvement of youth in these violent crimes poses significant challenges to public safety and raises urgent questions about the future of the community amidst escalating gang violence.
