1 killed, 12 injured in China building blast

The explosion was suspected to have been caused by liquified gas leak. Rescue work is underway, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.

1 killed, 12 injured in China building blast
BEIJING: At least one person was killed and 12 others were injured today after an explosion ripped through a residential building in northeast China's Liaoning Province.

Three pedestrians were among 12 people injured in the blast that killed one person. Injured have been hospitalised.

Nine residents have been rescued from the rubble. Part of the building collapsed after the blast this morning in the Lingdong community of Longgang District, Huludao City, the local government said in a statement.

The explosion was suspected to have been caused by liquified gas leak. Rescue work is underway, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.

A similar residential building explosion in Huludao City on May 31 left two dead and another 11 injured.
