At least 1.35 lakh people in southern China have been evacuated due to typhoon Mujigae which caused massive devastation resulting in the deaths of 19 people.

BEIJING: At least 1.35 lakh people in southern China have been evacuated due to typhoon Mujigae which caused massive devastation resulting in the deaths of 19 people.

About 1,35,100 people were evacuated in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, south China, have been evacuated due to Typhoon Mujigae, the regional department of civil affairs said today giving details of the devastation caused by it after lashed the region last week.

The typhoon, the 22nd of the year also destroyed 19,171 homes within the region and caused estimated direct economic losses of more than 1.6 billion yuan (about $252 million).

Guangxi has seen heavy storms since Mujigae made landfall in neighboring Guangdong Province on Sunday.

Nineteen people have been killed and four others are missing after the typhoon hit China's Guangdong province.
