West Corporation making friendly offer for French company

West Corporation of Omaha says it will be offering nearly $270 million (euro184.2 million) to acquire a French teleconferencing company that it would merge with its InterCall subsidiary.

OMAHA: West Corporation of Omaha says it will be offering nearly $270 million (euro184.2 million) to acquire a French teleconferencing company that it would merge with its InterCall subsidiary.

West says it will be making a friendly tender offer of euro2.50, or $3.66, a share for a sales price of $268.8 million.

West says its West International Holdings subsidiary has filed a draft offer with French authorities, who must approve the deal before Genesys shareholders can vote on the offer.

West says Genesys' directors have already decided to recommend the offer to its shareholders.

West Chief executive Tom Barker says Genesys' strength in France, Britain, Germany and elsewhere would solidify InterCall's international position.
