Fresh twist in Chinese actor Yu Menglong's death case.
The death case of Chinese actor Yu Menglong, who died on September 11, 2025, ignited multiple theories that surfaced on social media across China and overseas. Menglong’s death was soon declared a case of accidental fall, with authorities claiming that there was no foul play. He died after falling from a luxury high-rise in Beijing and was reportedly intoxicated at the time of his death.

With each passing day, several theories around his death kept surfacing as photos and videos allegedly of the night when the actor died kept emerging on Chinese social media platforms, deepening the mystery behind his demise. As claims flooded in, a tidal wave of netizens, industry peers, and activists on Chinese social media platforms started questioning the respective authorities and also demanded a thorough investigation into the matter.

Now, nearly two and a half months after Menglong, also known as Alan Yu, died, several posts are surfacing on Chinese social media platforms suggesting that actress Kan Xin, rumored to have been Yu’s girlfriend, may have had ties to individuals accused of orchestrating his death, according to Vision Times.

Yu Menglong’s mysterious girlfriend?

Since Alan Yu’s death, the number of alleged suspects has reportedly grown from six to 17, with Kan Xin among those newly implicated. The perpetrators may have planted a “girlfriend spy” to monitor Yu’s movements and report on his private investigations weeks before his death, Vision Times reported, citing several sources. These are, however, theories, and there are no concrete and authentic sources to confirm the claims.

The Vision Times report also stated that social media commentators suggested that person was Kan Xin, who allegedly revealed Yu’s efforts to collect evidence of financial crimes, ultimately leading to his capture and death.

Who is Kan Xin?

Kan Xin was born in Xianning, Hubei Province, and graduated from the Tianjin Conservatory of Music, Vision Times reported, citing public records. She later sang with the Beijing Wannian Jinhe Culture Agency.

According to corporate filings, in 1993, Kan invested in the Beijing Kaiwen Police Technology Research Institute, holding an 8.4 percent stake in the 5 million yuan (about USD$690,000) enterprise.

Later, she was recommended by director Cheng Qingsong for the film “Lyuliang Wen Ying (Song of Spring).” She earned a Golden Rooster Award nomination for Best Actress.

Commentator Li Muyang asserted that there is no “conclusive evidence” that links Kan Xin to the conspiracy, Vision Times reported. Muyang, however, noted that her social ties to individuals named in the so-called “17-person gathering” have fueled suspicion among the public.
