IShowSpeed, whose real name is Darren Watkins Jr, was live-streaming to almost 25,000 viewers when the incident happened.
What happened to IShowSpeed?
Speed was suffering from a severe sinus infection in July 2023, which left his right eye swollen and shut. He was additionally diagnosed with cluster headaches, a rare condition that causes painful headaches on one side of the head.Speed had informed fans about his diagnosis. "I have this thing called a cluster headache right now. A deadly headache disease. I can't sleep, I can't eat, I can't do anything right now," he said in a video.
Speed was hospitalized in Tokyo, Japan, and made a recovery. He came back to live streaming on August 15, 2023.
What did IShowSpeed do on live streaming?
On August 16, as Speed was playing Five Nights at Freddy's on live streaming, he started yelling at one of the characters in the video game. He suddenly stood up and exposed himself to his live viewers. It seems it was an accident. He sat back down immediately. "Oh, my god," he exclaimed, as he realized what had happened.
It was too late, as the clips of the flash moment were already on social media.
Fans were shocked, and some fans who allowed their young children to watch Speed’s videos, are now having second thoughts about the YouTuber.
