YouTube TV's monthly price rises by $10 starting January

YouTube TV’s price is increasing by $10 to $82.99 per month starting January 13.

YouTube TV‘s monthly price is going up by an additional $10 to $82.99. YouTube TV is causing the most recent instance of streaming sticker shock by increasing its basic plan's price by $10 per month in January to $82.99, as quoted in a report by Deadline.

In a letter to subscribers, the business stated that they don't make these decisions lightly, and they realise this has an impact on their members. They are dedicated to providing members with features that are revolutionising live TV viewing, such as limitless DVR storage and multi-view, as well as support for YouTube TV's extensive on-demand collection of films and television series.

The hike, which will go into effect on January 13, comes after an increase of $8 per month in March 2023. YouTube TV now costs the same as Disney's Hulu + Live TV bundle.

Google, the parent company of YouTube TV, announced earlier this year that the service had 8 million subscribers, placing it in the upper echelons of pay-TV providers. A long-term agreement to provide Sunday tickets with the NFL has fuelled its recent expansion.

YouTube is also controlling a growing portion of all TV viewing, which allows the tech behemoth to grow its clientele at a steady pace. In contrast to traditional pay-TV companies, YouTube TV provided users with a simple way to cancel if they were unhappy with the new rates.

Although they hope YouTube TV remains people’s preferred service, the company acknowledged that some of its members might wish to terminate their subscriptions. Family managers can pause or cancel at any time, as usual.

As businesses have struggled with the high cost of programming and running a streaming outlet, prices for both standalone services and bundles have been rising.

Disney was the most recent to gradually expand its selection of streaming content a few weeks ago.

This week, CFO Hugh Johnston addressed the strategy at UBS Media and Communications. He claimed that by increasing value throughout the business, Disney+ was able to take price, which is what happens when the company releases blockbusters like Deadpool & Wolverine and Inside Out 2.
