YouTube TV is finally making a major change that many subscribers have been waiting for. After years of offering a single expensive subscription, the streaming service has introduced several new plans designed to give viewers more control over what they pay for.

The updated system replaces the old “all-or-nothing” model with genre-focused packages. Instead of paying for channels you rarely watch, users can now choose plans based on their interests, such as sports, entertainment, news, or family content. The rollout marks one of the biggest changes to YouTube TV’s subscription structure in years.

Why is YouTube TV changing its subscription model?

For years, YouTube TV operated on a simple but costly approach: one subscription plan that included everything.

The service previously offered a single Base Plan priced at $82.99 per month. That plan bundled a wide range of live TV channels and on-demand content covering sports, entertainment, and news.

While the package offered plenty of content, many subscribers felt they were paying for channels they never actually watched, as per a report by TechRadar.

The company first revealed plans to change this system in December. More details followed in its annual newsletter in January, where YouTube TV confirmed it would move away from the all-in-one subscription approach in 2026.

At the time, the company did not announce an exact rollout date. Now, those new streaming tiers have officially arrived, offering a more flexible way for users to subscribe.

The idea is simple: viewers can pick a plan based on the type of content they enjoy most.

The new lineup includes several main packages built around different types of content.

One of the biggest additions is the Sports Plan, aimed at viewers who primarily watch live sports. The plan costs $64.99 per month, with a discounted price of $54.99 for new users.

Subscribers gain access to YouTube TV’s collection of sports networks, including ESPN broadcasters, FS1, and NBC Sports Network. The package will also include ESPN Unlimited when it launches later this fall.

For viewers more interested in movies and television shows, the Entertainment Plan offers a different mix of channels. This package includes networks such as FX, Comedy Central, Paramount+, and HGTV, as per a report by TechRadar.

The Entertainment Plan costs $54.99 per month, with a reduced rate of $44.99 for new users. Compared with the previous Base Plan, that price represents a significant savings.

Another option is the Sports + News Plan, which combines sports programming with national news channels. Subscribers receive the sports networks from the Sports Plan along with news outlets such as CNBC, Fox News, and MSNBC.

This plan is priced at $71.99 per month, with a discounted introductory rate of $56.99, as per a report by TechRadar.

Families looking for a broader selection of channels may prefer the News + Entertainment + Family Plan.

This package bundles news programming and entertainment networks alongside family-friendly content from Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, National Geographic, Cartoon Network, and others.

The price for that bundle is $69.99 per month, or $59.99 for new subscribers, as per a report by TechRadar.

What other bundle options are available to subscribers?

Beyond the four main plans, YouTube TV is also offering several additional combinations during the signup process.

These include Sports + Entertainment at $72 per month, News + Entertainment at $63 per month, and News + Family also at $63 monthly.

Other bundles include Sports + Family for $72, Entertainment + Family for $63, and larger packages such as Sports + News + Family, Sports + Entertainment + Family, and Sports + News + Entertainment, each priced at $78 per month.

The expanded selection gives users multiple ways to customize their viewing experience, as per a report by TechRadar.

By replacing its previous single-plan structure with genre-specific bundles, YouTube TV is giving subscribers more flexibility — and potentially a more affordable way to stream the channels they actually want.
