Atlanta rapper Young Thug released his new album "UY Scuti" on Friday, September 26, marking his first major musical statement since his release from jail in October 2024.

The album arrives nearly 11 months after Young Thug's release from custody. The project experienced several postponements, with initial rumors suggesting releases in May and June before being scheduled for September 19.

Young Thug moved the release date from September 19 to September 26 to avoid competing with Cardi B's "Am I the Drama?" album release.

"Yall know I wasn't dropping Friday. It's a ladies day," Young Thug wrote on X. Cardi B responded: "And you better step next week …you got this, You know this !!"

'UY Scuti' features Future collaboration and personal reflections

Young Thug previewed the album with "Money on Money" featuring Future in April, 2024. He followed with "Miss My Dogs" in September, where he addressed relationships with girlfriend Mariah the Scientist, Drake, Gucci Mane, 21 Savage, Future, and Lil Baby.

His previous album, "Business Is Business," was released in June, 2023 while Young Thug remained incarcerated. The album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 with 89,000 total album units.

Young Thug explains 'UY Scuti' album title meaning

In an April interview with GQ, Young Thug explained his album title choice.

"I just feel big, you know. The name of my album UY Scuti. I feel like I'm one of the biggest stars," he said. "I did a lot. Founding this culture. The new rap game that's happening right now. I'm out of this world. Not like God, though."

Recent court appearance supporting Metro Boomin

Young Thug appeared at the Los Angeles federal courthouse on Wednesday, September 24, supporting producer Metro Boomin during his civil sexual assault lawsuit trial.

The album release represents Young Thug's return to active music promotion following his legal proceedings and subsequent release from custody in late 2024.
