Young boy suspected in pizza gift card scam in Troy, Illinois

Police in Troy, Illinois, are on the lookout for a young boy, approximately 6 years old, who is believed to be at the heart of a pizza gift card scam. This scheme involves the sale of counterfeit "buy one get one free" Dominos Pizza gift cards under the guise of a fundraiser for his baseball team, according to authorities.

The Troy Police Department, situated about 20 miles east of St. Louis, Missouri, recently issued a statement via social media. In it, they cautioned the public about the sale of these bogus gift cards in Troy and the surrounding areas. The cards are reportedly being peddled by a young white male juvenile, described as around six years of age. The child was last seen wearing a soiled pink baseball uniform and spoke with a southern accent.

The Troy Police Department further noted that the juvenile is likely accompanied by an adult. He approaches potential victims, explaining that the cards are being sold to support his baseball team's fundraising efforts.


Concerns for the boy's welfare have prompted authorities to request the public's assistance. They urge anyone who encounters the young boy, the accompanying adult, or suspects anyone else of distributing fraudulent promotional cards to contact the Troy Police Department at (618) 667-6731.
