Yang Se Chan reveals he had thyroid cancer; South Korean comedian makes massive revelation about his battle with cancer as he consoled Jin Tae Hyun on KBS 2TV’s “Problem Child in House”

Yang Se Chan, who is one of the main hosts of KBS 2TV’s “Problem Child in House” made a massive revelation on the show. In the upcoming October 16, 2025, episode of the show, he opened up about his experience of suffering from Thyroid cancer.

The guest lineup for the episode of the knowledge talk show features real-life couple Park Si Eun and Jin Tae Hyun. During the show, Yang Se Chan shared a heartfelt moment with Jin Tae Hyun. The two were seen sharing a bonding over their experience with thyroid cancer.

Yang took everyone by surprise when he revealed, “I’m still taking medication,” as quoted by online platform Kbizoom. While congratulating Jin on his full recovery, he further disclosed that he had been diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer 12 years ago. “I found out during a group medical check-up with other comedians,” he recalled. “We were rehearsing for Comedy Big League when I got the call.”

Yang remembers how his colleagues helped him

During the episode, Yang remembered how his colleagues helped him stay positive at the time: “There was no time to be sad. My friends tried to lift my spirits, jokingly saying, ‘He has cancer! Yeah, cancer~!’ It was their way of comforting me, and it really helped,” according to Kbizoom.

While agreeing with Jin Tae Hyun’s experience, Yang also highlighted fatigue as one of the early symptoms of thyroid cancer, agreeing with:

“After surgery, I stopped feeling constant exhaustion,” Jin said, explaining that he used to struggle through afternoons. Yang replied, “Exactly! I once slept for 10 hours straight and still felt tired. My body was sending warning signals,” he said.

Yang on post-surgery habits

Speaking about his post surgery habits, Yang said, “After my operation, I tried to maintain a healthy diet for six months,” he said. “But one day, I suddenly found myself eating spicy seafood rice soup again,” he laughed as he added.

Born December 8, 1986, Yang Se Chan is a South Korean comedian and singer born in Dongducheon, Gyeonggi Province. According to website My Drama List, he debuted in 2003 as a musical actor with his group Triple Axel and Uwonye. In 2008, Yang Se Chan debuted as a solo singer with his single "Only One".
