CM Punk opens Monday Night RAW episode with a promo
Fresh off his hard-fought victory in last week's gauntlet match, CM Punk opened Monday Night Raw as the newly crowned No. 1 contender for Gunther's World Heavyweight Championship. With SummerSlam looming on August 2 or 3 in East Rutherford, Punk delivered a fiery promo, declaring that unlike past challengers, he isn’t just another name - he's The Best in the World. Gunther stepped into the ring for a tense face-to-face and acknowledged that while both men have big egos, his is earned through dominance and accolades. "I’m going to make you regret ever stepping into a wrestling ring," he warned. "You will never be the Best in the World." With that, Gunther dropped the mic and exited, leaving a charged atmosphere behind.
Sheamus defeated Rusev
Sheamus and Rusev clashed in a brutal rematch Monday night, reigniting their fierce rivalry. Rusev controlled much of the bout early, absorbing a top-rope clothesline and slamming Sheamus into the announce table. The Celtic Warrior fought back, escaping the Accolade and reaching the ropes. In a callback to their previous battle, Rusev exposed a turnbuckle, but his plan unraveled when Sheamus reversed the setup, sending him face-first into the steel. As Rusev went for a shillelagh, Sheamus struck with a thunderous Brogue Kick, earning a hard-fought victory and leveling the score in their physical and personal feud.
The LWO defeated The Creed Brothers and The New Day
In a high-stakes triple threat tag match, The Creed Brothers, The LWO, and The New Day battled for a shot at The Judgment Day’s World Tag Team Championship. The Creeds and New Day dominated early, isolating the LWO, but their temporary alliance crumbled as egos clashed. Dragon Lee interfered late, targeting the Creeds, only to be countered by El Grande Americano. Amid the chaos, Cruz Del Toro took out American Made at ringside with a dive, while Joaquin Wilde capitalized in the ring, outsmarting The New Day and scoring a shocking pinfall. The LWO earned a huge upset and a future title shot.
Becky Lynch challenges Lyra Valkyria in a fiery promo
Women’s Intercontinental Champion Becky Lynch took to the ring in Houston with a fiery promo, joking she should be at the Happy Gilmore 2 premiere in New York instead. She accused Lyra Valkyria of gatekeeping title shots and called her out. Valkyria confronted her former mentor, and after a tense exchange, a high-stakes No Count Out, No Disqualification title match was set for SummerSlam - with the stipulation that if Valkyria loses, she can never challenge for the title again. The No. 1 contender accepted, then suckered Lynch into a handshake before dropping her with a punishing version of the Manhandle Slam.
Bayley and Lyra Valkyria finally teamed up after Becky Lynch's WrestleMania 41 ambush cost them a spot on the card. Challenging Judgment Day’s Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez for the Women’s Tag Titles, the duo faced relentless offense as Valkyria was isolated for most of the match. After a hard-fought tag to Bayley, the momentum shifted briefly with her fiery offense. But chaos soon followed - Dominik Mysterio interfered, AJ Styles made a surprise run-in, and Lynch ambushed Valkyria at ringside. Seizing the opportunity, Rodriguez hit the Tejada Bomb, securing the win and allowing the champions to retain the title amidst total turmoil.
Karrion Kross defeated Sami Zayn
In a fierce Night of Champions rematch, Karrion Kross continued his psychological and physical war on Sami Zayn, focusing on Zayn’s injured ribs in a dominant, methodical performance. Zayn, ever resilient, fought back and delivered a corner exploder suplex, setting up for the Helluva Kick. However, Scarlett intervened, distracting the referee and slipping Kross a lead pipe. Kross used the weapon to halt Zayn’s momentum and stole a controversial pinfall victory. Later backstage, Dominik Mysterio blindsided AJ Styles, announcing he’d been medically cleared and would face Styles at SummerSlam - escalating their heated rivalry to a whole new level.
Iyo Sky vs Stephanie Vaquer ends in a DQ
An electrifying backstage segment between Iyo Sky and Stephanie Vaquer set the stage for their high-stakes match, further energized by a surprise cameo from Houston legend Mattress Mack. In the ring, Sky and Vaquer delivered a thrilling, fast-paced bout filled with hard-hitting action and precision counters. Vaquer turned the tide with a vicious knee and back-to-back Devil’s Kiss finishers after blocking Sky’s sunset flip. Just as the crowd reached a fever pitch, Chelsea Green and the Secret Service interfered, ending the match in chaos. Naomi then shoved Sky into Vaquer, only for Rhea Ripley to return and clear the ring dramatically.
Roman Reigns receives support from Jey Uso
In the show’s final segment, Paul Heyman appeared with Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed, only to be interrupted by Roman Reigns. Heyman tried to mend fences, citing their bond and Seth Rollins' injury, but Reigns rejected him coldly: "You’re not a Wise Man anymore - you’re just a dumbass." He warned Breakker not to trust Heyman and reminded everyone, "The Bloodline was God’s work." Breakker defiantly declared himself "the Big Dog now," leading to a brawl. The numbers overwhelmed Reigns until Jey Uso made a thunderous save. The two cleared the ring and stood tall, ending the show to a roaring ovation.
