WrestleMania is all set to make history right now. For the first time in its four decade history, WWE's biggest event will be held outside of North America.

As part of the city's "Riyadh Season," WrestleMania said that WrestleMania 43 will be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in 2027.

Why is WrestleMania 43 going to Saudi Arabia?

Since 1985, only cities in North America have hosted WrestleMania. WWE's choice to hold WrestleMania 43 in Riyadh is part of its plan to expand its reach around the world. After months of rumors, the announcement shows that Saudi Arabia is becoming more important as a host for big entertainment events, as per a report by ESPN.

The official announcement follows a few days after the announcement that WrestleMania would relocate to Saudi Arabia was made by Turki Alalshikh, the chairman of the General Entertainment Authority of Saudi Arabia, in a since-deleted Snapchat live video.

"WrestleMania is already the biggest date on the wrestling calendar, and this announcement marks a significant moment in our partnership with WWE." "We deeply respect the legacy of WrestleMania and the global prestige it holds among wrestling fans around the world," Alalshikh said in a statement, reported ESPN.

"As part of Riyadh Season in 2027, our vision is to elevate this iconic event to unprecedented heights and deliver a WrestleMania unlike anything the world has ever seen."

What does this mean for WWE's presence around the world?

Paul "Triple H" Levesque, WWE's chief creative officer, called the move a defining moment and a chance to show WWE as a brand that gets fans all over the world excited. Saudi officials agreed with that and stressed their goal of giving fans a WrestleMania experience that is unlike any other.

How does this fit into WWE's deal with Saudi Arabia?

Since 2018, WWE has been able to hold events in Saudi Arabia thanks to a ten-year, $1 billion deal. The partnership has already brought a number of pay-per-view events to the Kingdom. The 2026 Royal Rumble will be the first of WWE's "Big Four" shows to take place there. The best thing to come out of that partnership is now WrestleMania 43, as per a report by ESPN.

WrestleMania 42 will still happen in Las Vegas on April 18–19, 2026. This will be the second year in a row that it happens in the same city. But WWE will take its biggest event around the world just one year later, starting a new chapter in its long history, as per a report by ESPN.
