World's oldest dog turns 31: Meet Guinness World Record holder Bobi

Meet Bobi, who holds the Guinness World Record for being the world's oldest dog. He recently turned 31 and the owner threw a 'very traditional' Portuguese party calling over 100 guests to attend the ceremony at their residence in Conqueiros - a remote village in Portugal where Bobi has resided all his life.

While Bobi turns 31 this year, his owner is just 7 years older than him and is currently 38 years old — Leonel Costa.

According to Leonel, Bobi has been doing well health-wise in the past few months. However, Leonel mentioned that Bobi had a recent visit to the vet for a check-up, where it was revealed that his eyesight is deteriorating.

Throughout his life, Bobi has been a sociable dog and has had the liberty to wander freely in the forests surrounding Costa's residence, without ever being tethered or leashed. Bobi has also been surrounded by several other animals during his life, which has prevented him from feeling lonely.

As he has grown older, Bobi has found it challenging to walk, as noted by Guinness. He tends to sleep a lot and usually lies down in bed after eating. However, on colder days, Bobi prefers to nap by the fire.

According to Bobi's owner, he holds a special place in their heart as he reminds them of their loved ones who are no longer alive, such as their father, brother, and grandparents.
