Only 11 years after surpassing the landmark of seven billion, the United Nations reports that the world's population reached the eight billion threshold on November 15. Nine billion could be reached in around 15 years, while the UN projects that 10 billion won't be reached until 2080. According to the United Nations' most recent estimates, the world's population may reach 8.5 billion people in 2030, 9.7 billion in 2050, and 10.4 billion in 2100.
Although the world population reaches alarming levels, there is surely some interest to know who became the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th billionth child. On this note, a BBC documentary identified the world's fifth, sixth and seventh billionth child and shared their story.
According to the BBC, Matej Gaspar, a Croatian, who is currently 35 years old, is the world's fifth-billionth human. According to a news report, Gaspar, who is now an engineer, does not enjoy the attention he has received for being the fifth-billionth child. He prefers a calm lifestyle and resides in Zagreb with his wife.
