World Baseball Classic: How frequently is it played? Here’s all you may need to know

The tournament will be played outside of the United States West Coast for the first time this year. The USA has hosted a championship, though.

It's never too early to begin planning for the following World Baseball Classic while the 2023 edition is still being played.

16 teams are automatically qualified, however, Chinese Taipei, China, Colombia, and Nicaragua must requalify since they placed last in their respective pools.

  • Czech Republic

The 2018 iteration was broadcast in China, Taiwan, Japan, and the US. The World Baseball Classic championship was played in the United States for the fifth time out of five times.

The WBC before this year's was held in 2017, and the United States won it. One was scheduled for 2021 but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The World Baseball Classic is played how frequently?

Every three to four years, the World Baseball Classic is played.

The World Baseball Classic has had four prior iterations, with the most recent one taking place in 2018.

The COVID-19 outbreak forced the WBC to postpone the 2021 tournament in March 2020.

Even though the tenor fluctuates, it is a sure guarantee that the WBC will be contested every three to four years.

When will the next World Baseball Classic take place?

Three years after this stanza, in 2026, will come the next World Baseball Classic.

The first and second WBCs were separated by three years, from 2006 to 2009. For the first time since the fifth and sixth, there will be a three-year break.

What city will host the next World Baseball Classic?

The locations for the next WBC have not yet been revealed. They are most likely to be made public in the summer of 2025.
