What is Wordle?

Wordle is an internet-based word game. Designed by Welsh software engineer Josh Wardle, who designed the game as a gift for his wife. Wardle created the game during the lockdown period in 2021, taking inspiration from the famous television word game, Lingo. Following the initial release, the game became an instant hit, and following the success, Wardle sold the word game to The New YorkTimes in January 2022.


The biggest USP of Wordle is that players can play the game only once a day. Moreover, the game is available only on mobile and desktop browsers and cannot be downloaded on App Store or Play Store. Likewise, Wordle does not have any advertisements, unlike other word games that try to pull in as many adverts as possible.

How to play Wordle?

You can access the sensational word game by clicking here. Essentially, the once-a-day policy discourages addiction, unlike other similar word games that want to keep you hooked for hours together. On the website, you get six 5-letter blocks; you only need to guess the correct 5-letter word and six tries to guess the right word.

You can start by typing any 5-letter word. If the letters typed are present in the correct word, they will turn yellow or green. Yellow if they are not in the proper position, and green if they are. Once you get all the five letters green, you guess the right word and win the game. If you don’t get the right word, you lose, and the correct word will be displayed on your screen. The game receives renewed at midnight in your time zone.
