Woman's romantic note left on Virgin Airlines flight for ‘cute guy’ goes viral - here's what she wrote

Isabella Duric, 23, went viral on TikTok after writing a love note to a “cute guy” seated behind her on a Virgin Australia flight from Sydney to Melbourne.

A Dare That Turned Into a Real Attempt

The idea to reach out did not primarily arrive from Duric herself but was fueled by her friends during the journey.
“My friend said, ‘I found your airport crush’ and he pointed to the guy behind us,” she told news.com.au.

“I told the girls about it in a Snapchat and said ‘Imagine I send a note to the guy’ and they dared me to do it.”

Motivated by the challenge, Duric opted to act rather than let the moment to let go.

The Note That Missed Its Mark

Duric wrote a simple handwritten text that cited, “Hey, add my number,” alongside her Instagram account, Snapchat information, name, and the word “blonde” for identification.

One of her companions was filmed crumbling the note into a ball and throwing it toward the man’s seat.
“It bounced off the window and landed near his seat. But he thought it was for someone else and didn’t read it,” Duric described.

Embarrassment Takes Over Mid-Flight

When the note was unnoticed, Duric stated she felt embarrassed, a response she later shared openly with viewers.
“I thought it was the perfect opportunity to shoot my shot. I decided to go all in and create a letter that would catch his eye. However, the execution turned into a comically embarrassing moment,” she wrote.

“After crafting the note, we managed to toss it in his direction. But moments later, the looming second-hand embarrassment washed over me when he didn’t even glance at the letter we had thrown his way. It was one of those cringe moments where you just wish you could disappear from the situation.”

A Second Attempt That Finally Worked

Not being ready to give up, Duric and her friends attempted one last move by holding up a phone screen showing the message “OPEN THE NOTE” in bright yellow text.

The clip then cuts to a message from the man, confirming that the effort had ultimately succeeded.
“Hey Isabella, I’m Lachie the dude you threw a note at haha how are you (sic). Didn’t have internet on the plane to add you unfortunately.”

Internet Reacts as Views Climb Past One Million

The TikTok video rapidly surpassed 1.3 million views, with thousands of viewers flooding the comments section inquiring about updates. Even Virgin Australia joined the conversation, with the remark: “We’re on the edge of our seats.”

Duric then shared that she and Lachie exchanged messages for many days, talking about work and college.

Why the Story Didn’t Turn Into a Romance

Despite the successful exchange, the bond didn’t evolve into a relationship.
“Everything is meant to happen for a reason and it was also a bit of a running joke (about my airport crushes) and I am seeing someone else now,” Duric stated.

She highlighted that the experience was intended to be fun rather than serious.
