Wimbledon Championship: Will Marketa Vondrousova reach second Grand Slam Final?

In the second round of Wimbledon women’s singles, the Czech tennis star thrashed 12th seed Veronika Kudermetova and defeated 20th seed Donna Vekic in the third round. She sent home 32nd seed Marie Bouzkova in the last 16 and vanquished fourth seed Jessica Pegula in the quarterfinals. Now, she will take on Ukrainian player Elina Svitolina to book a birth in the final.

Marketa began playing tennis at the age of four with her father David Vondrousova in 2003. The 5ft 6in tall young sensation has won only one WTA tournament so far- Biel/Bienne in 2017. But the Czech woman has finished runner-up in French Open, Tokyo Olympics 2021, Istanbul Open, and Budapest Open.

She reached the Rolland Garros final in 2019 without dropping a single set in the tournament and was ranked 14th, her highest ranking so far. She won career prize money of USD 5447411 on July 3, 2023. She is married.
