Willy Adames stars as Giants hand Dodgers 7th straight loss

The San Francisco Giants held off a late surge to defeat the struggling Los Angeles Dodgers 8-7 on Friday night at Oracle Park, handing their rivals a seventh consecutive loss - their longest skid since September 2017.

Willy Adames led the way with a triple, a home run, and three RBIs, while Dominic Smith added a solo shot and Jung Hoo Lee chipped in with three RBIs of his own.



Matt Chapman scored twice as the Giants, winners of seven of their last nine, trimmed the Dodgers’ NL West lead to just four games.

Shohei Ohtani launched his 32nd homer of the season into McCovey Cove, and Michael Conforto added a two-run blast in the sixth to spark the Dodgers’ comeback. Teoscar Hernández also delivered a two-run double as L.A. nearly erased an 8-2 deficit.

Dodgers starter Dustin May (5-6) gave up seven runs in 4 2/3 innings, while Giants ace Logan Webb (9-6) allowed six runs over 5 1/3. Camilo Doval recorded his 15th save, escaping a ninth-inning jam with a game-ending double play off the bat of Will Smith.

Hyeseong Kim and Mookie Betts each had two hits for L.A., but the Dodgers fell just short in another frustrating finish.
