If media reports are to be believed, a 'Dune' miniseries will soon be made as another film after 'Dune 3' will not be enough to conclude the epic saga in a grand way. While 'Dune: Part Two' shows how Paul liberates Arrakis at a high price and sets up the background for the beginning of the next part, the third part takes it further, but it will not be able to cover it completely, setting the background for more films or a miniseries in a better way, reports 'Screen Rant'.

Earlier 'Dune' miniseries

However, any potential 'Dune' miniseries wouldn't be the first time these sequels got screen adaptations. Almost 20 years ago, when SYFY was known as The Sci-fi Channel, it made a little miniseries called 'Frank Herbert's Children of Dune.'

Working with Greg Yaitanes in 2003 John Harrison once again wrote the script and produced Frank 'Herbert's Children of Dune', a three-part Sci-fi Channel miniseries. It adapted both the second and third books in Herbert's series, 'Dune: Messiah' and 'Children of Dune.'

'Herbert's Children of Dune'

'Children of Dune ' focused on Paul's actual children, the steps they take as adults, and the conflicts that break out for control over influence and closeness to the siblings.

While "The Children," focused on Paul's and Chani's young children, Leto II and Ghanima, and the twins were separated in the second part of the miniseries, the third installment, "The Golden Path," looks toward the future.

'Dune: Part 3'

'Dune: Part 3' could stick to the story of Dune Messiah, the novel's ending may invite fans to wonder about the future of Paul's children. On the other hand, mimicking the 2003 miniseries' structure would resolve all loose ends while providing a more satisfying conclusion to Paul's story as a fallen "messiah" in 'Dune: Part Three.' The miniseries will pick up the thread from this point take the story forward and come out with more exciting details to which the viewers may hook up.
