Will 'Pirates of the Caribbean 6' be a reboot? Know what Producer Jerry Bruckheimer has said

'Pirates of the Caribbean' Producer Jerry Bruckheimer started the controversy by announcing that Johnny Depp, who starred as Captain Jack Sparrow in all five previous Pirates of the Caribbean entries, wasn't on board for a sixth film.

'Pirates of the Caribbean' producer Jerry Bruckheimer has confirmed that 'Pirates of the Caribbean 6' will be a reboot. Talking to 'ComicBook.com', he hinted that he is planning on rebooting the franchise, which makes it logistically more straightforward to work out a schedule. Bruckheimer said, "Because, with Top Gun, you have an actor who is iconic and brilliant. And how many movies he did before he did Top Gun, I can't tell you. But we're gonna reboot Pirates, so that is easier to put together because you don't have to wait for certain actors."

According to 'Collider', Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Production President Sean Bailey insisted last year that rebooting 'Pirates of the Caribbean' was a top priority for the company on reworking many of its animated classics into live-action films.

Controversy rocks 'Pirates of the Caribbean'

Earlier in 2022, he kickstarted the controversy by announcing that Johnny Depp, who starred as Captain Jack Sparrow in all five previous Pirates of the Caribbean entries, wasn't on board for a sixth film. They were mulling with the idea of a female-led Pirates movie starring Margot Robbie.

Soon after the release of the fifth movie, 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales', in 2017, talks on a 6th movie began. The fifth movie of the franchise came to an end that left room for further stories as the characters of Will Turner (Orlando Bloom), Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley), and Davy Jones (Bill Nighy) all appeared in a post-credits roll. Disney was keen on the project, but Bruckheimer announced that Joachim Ronning was set to return as the director.

'Pirates of the Caribbean 6': Screenwriters

Initially, 'Deadpool' screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick were asked to write the script for 'Pirates of the Caribbean 6', but they left the project in 2019. 'The Last of Us' creator Craig Mazin started the scriptwriting job alongside original screenwriter Ted Elliot.

At different points, Christina Hodson, known for her work on 'Birds of Prey' and 'Bumblebee', was reported to be involved in crafting the screenplay.
