The hype for Grand Theft Auto (GTA 6) is unmatched, especially following the release of the second trailer earlier this year (2025). The latest much-awaited installment of Rockstar’s third-person action video game is set to take players back to Vice City for the first time in over 20 years. With the release date out, gamers can soon get their hands on it.

With every new detail, excitement keeps building for what’s easily one of the biggest and most talked-about games coming next year. It’s been over a decade since GTA 5 launched, so there’s a huge appetite for another open-world adventure from Rockstar—which has reportedly been in development since 2018.

GTA 6: Release date

GTA 6 is set to release on May 26, 2026, with Rockstar confirming the date on X. So far, it’s confirmed that GTA 6 will launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in 2026. The news came from an official Take-Two press release stating, "GTA 6 is coming to PlayStation 5 computer entertainment systems and Xbox Series X|S games and entertainment systems."

With the PS5 Pro now out, it’s still unclear if GTA 6 will have any PS5 Pro enhancements. As for a PC release, it’s unlikely right now.

Will GTA 6 be on PS4 and Xbox One?

According to the official press release, GTA 6 is currently only set to launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X and won’t be coming to PS4 or Xbox One when it releases in 2026.

Will GTA 6 have a PC release?

Right now, there’s no word on a PC release, which might mean GTA 6 will follow the usual pattern of launching on consoles first and coming to PC later. Most likely, PC gamers will have to wait past the 2026 release date to play it on their platform. According to a former developer, Rockstar is focusing on PS5 first because "that's what sells," so a PC version will likely take a while, as reported by GamesRadar. Another former developer also mentioned that a PC launch for GTA 6 probably won’t happen "for a long time."
