Will ‘Barbie’ go past USD 20 million, ‘Oppenheimer’ in league of ‘Logan’?

Warner Bros. Barbie is expected to collect USD 20 million at the box office, but the trade pundits feel that even if it fails to do so, it will go past this summer’s best previews. ‘Barbie Blowout Parties’ were held at 500 places and the film will begin at 3,400 locations Friday. While Greta Gerwig directed ‘Barbie’ will play at 4,200 theatres, Oppenheimer will be shown at 3,600 theatres.

According to the Box Office Company, after ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’, ‘Barbie’s presales are the best in the industry. The experts are confident that the film will clear from USD 100 million to USD 130 million. Similarly, Oppenheimer is expected to cross the limit of USD 20 million.

The experts of the industry also feel that the preview figure for Barbie is much better than earlier women-centric movies like the three-day collection of USD 174.7 million for ‘Beauty and the Beast’, USD 152.5 million for ‘Hunger Games’ and USD 142.8 million for 2009’s ‘Twilight Saga: New Moon’.


‘Oppenheimer’ has gone past Nolan Dirkirk’s three-dy collection of USD 50.5 million. It may also reach near the figures of ‘Doctor Strange’, ‘Eternals’, ‘Logan’, and ‘Shang-Chi’. All eyes are set on Oppenheimer to see if it can touch the record of the R-rated Logan which has a three-day collection of USD 88.4 million.
