The country is gearing for the debate between Donald Trump and Joe Biden who are the likely presidential nominees from the Republican and Democratic parties. The debate featuring the two will have muted mics when it is not the turn of either of the candidates to speak. Muting of mics:

The issue of muting of mics has been necessitated due to the past experience involving both the candidates. In one of the debates in 2020, when Biden was speaking, Trump had frequently interrupted him mid-way. At one point of time, Biden responded sharply and had asked Trump to “shut up”. This unpleasant experience has led CNN to ensure that in the upcoming debate, the mic in front of the candidate will be muted when the other candidate is speaking. This debate is taking place in a charged atmosphere with both the candidates levelling charges against each other. It has been vitiated by name calling, personal taunts and more.

CNN debate:

Jack Tapper and Dana Bash will moderate the debate. Candidates will appear on the lectern and they will be allowed to only carry a pad of paper, a pen and a bottle of water. Nothing else will be permitted. The debate will have no audience in the studio but many media channels are expected to be present. This will be streamed across televisions in the country. It has also been revealed that both the candidates have agreed to the rules. The two commercial breaks during the course of the debate will also see the candidates not being allowed to interact with their polling agents and advisors.

Robert Kennedy Jr:

Many have been wondering if Robert Kennedy Jr will get to be a part of the debate. The candidate must have averaged at least 15% in four separate polls identified by CNN. Kennedy has received the minimum number votes of polls in three polls.
