It's not necessarily gospel truth that boys are more sensitive about their cars than their girlfriends, but it often holds true, and basketball legend Shaquille O'Neal was no exception, at least until he decided to give up two of his Tesla Cybertrucks.

Shaquille O’Neal once said that he treats his cars like they’re his girlfriends. So when fans saw that he suddenly sold two of his Tesla Cybertrucks at once, they got suspicious.

People were like, “Wait, wasn’t he obsessed with those trucks? Why would he just dump them out of nowhere?”. People online were curious about what happened.

When Tesla released the Cybertruck, Shaq was one of the big celebrities who bought two of them. He got both the cars customized to fit his huge size and unique style. For someone like Shaq, who’s into futuristic tech and bold designs, the Cybertruck totally fits his vibe. That’s why it’s surprising he gave them up.

The Big Podcast

On a recent episode of The Big Podcast, his own show, Shaq finally shared the real reason why he gave up his Teslas.

He said it’s all about how far the Cybertrucks can go on one charge.

For someone who drives a lot and doesn’t like waiting, that was a major issue. He literally said, “I was into Cybertrucks, but they don’t give enough charge mileage.”

So basically, he’s saying if he drives to the city and comes back, the battery’s almost dead. So he’d have to keep stopping to charge, which is super annoying if he’s in a hurry.

And it’s not just about finding a charger, sometimes he has to wait for one to be available, then waste like 20 more minutes just charging.

Shaq decided to go with a different electric car, the Cadillac Escalade IQ, which is also a luxury electric SUV. He said that while he was in Las Vegas, he didn’t need to charge the Escalade IQ for four whole days, that’s a big deal.

Shaq didn’t just buy one Escalade IQ, he bought two at first and had them customized by a company called Effortless Motors. These were probably modified to suit his height and comfort, just like his Cybertrucks were.

Funny part is that he totally forgot he even bought the first one, so when it showed up at his house, he was like, “Wait… I bought this?”

Clearly, money isn’t a problem for Shaq, but what stood out is that he ended up liking them so much that he bought a third Escalade IQ.

Some hardcore Tesla fans online are probably saying things like, “Shaq doesn’t get it” or “He should’ve waited for a software update,” etc.

But the truth is, Shaq’s experience is real and valid, he doesn’t want to wait around for a charger.

He needs something reliable that can last for days without needing a charge, especially because he travels a lot.
