Latest poll conducted by Emerson College Polling/RealClearDefense survey revealed that former US President Donald Trump is having a huge lead of 10 points over US Vice President Kamala Harris in the state of Iowa with a support of near about 53% compared to Kamala Harris’s support of 43% among the likely voters, reported The Hill. The poll which was conducted just a day before the US Presidential election day indicated that 3% of the respondents remain undecided whereas 1% plans to vote for a third party.

According to The Hill, Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump outperformed Democratic Presidential candidate Kamala Harris among both the male and female voters with a lead of 5 points among women and a significant lead of 17 points among men. More than that it was also noticed that Donald Trump holds an advantage of 17 points among the Independents as well.

On the other hand, Democratic Presidential nominee Kamala Harris is having a lead by 8 points among the voters who are under 30 and also has an edge of 7 points among those who have a postgraduate degree, noted The Hill. The poll results certainly contrasts with a separate Des Moines Register/Mediacom poll survey which was released on the same day and showed that Kamala Harris is ahead by 3 points leading to several claims from Donald Trump’s campaign that the latter is an ‘outlier’.

If we trace history then it can be noticed that former US President Donald Trump has won Iowa in both the US Presidential election of 2016 and 2020 while Iowa has always been a Republican stronghold. The Hill asserted that the Emerson poll had a margin of error of approximately 3.4 percentage points which actually highlights the competitive nature of Presidential race in Iowa which could eventually influence the overall election outcome.
